e2vs Stuart Parker takes runner-up place in 2007 Superkart championship
Stuart Parker of e2v, left, after finishing second at the Nurburgring, with race winner Erik Martin Gjertson, from Norway, middle and Gavin Bennett from Great Britain, right who finished third but took the overall British Championship.
e2v sponsored SUPERKART driver Stuart Parker drove to a brace of podium finishes in the final round of the British Division Two Superkart Championship, in Nurburgring, Germany on the 19th, 20th and 21st October.
Going into the final set of races, Stuart, an employee at e2v’s Lincoln site, held a very slim lead over the multiple British and current European champion Gavin Bennett.
The race was also part of the European Superrace Kart Series. This meant the grid was mixed and would also allow Stuart to race against the European Division Two competitors.
Stuart bounced back from a disappointing practice session on the Friday (after several warm-up sessions his chain snapped) to qualify third for race one, the first of the British competitors, and fifth for race two.
The first race took place on Sunday morning on a cold and damp track where the karts set off for their warm-up lap in a flurry of snow. Stuart crossed the finish line in second place behind Erik Martin Gjertson from Norway but ahead of his British rivals.
As the drivers took to the grid for the start of race two, the weather had taken a turn for the worse with fog hampering vision and persistent heavy rain falling. Gavin Bennett eventually took the overall win and the British Championship, while Stuart finished third behind Czech driver Lumir Vaszky, to take the runner-up spot in the championship.
Stuart says "We are all really happy with second in the British Championship and we also put up a good fight in the European series. I am now looking forward to competing in Europe again next year as we have proved to be a very strong team."
